45-minute classes for ages 3½–6 - Children participate independently for the first 40 minutes
Please note: (if parent support is needed, we can totally make that work!)
Ready for the next step in your child’s musical journey?
Kindermusik Level 4 is designed for children who are ready to become more independent learners. For most of the class, children participate with their teacher and classmates while parents enjoy watching from the sidelines. During the final five minutes, grown-ups join the class for a special closing activity.
This class introduces children to the musical vocabulary, concepts, listening skills, and confidence that create a strong foundation for future music lessons. Children explore rhythm, melody, musical symbols, instruments, creative movement, and the keyboard—all through engaging, age-appropriate activities that make learning feel like play.
Explore the World of Music
Children listen to music from different instruments, cultures, genres, and composers while learning to notice and describe what they hear.
Make Music Together
Children experiment with instruments through rhythm games, musical conversations, accompanying songs, and ensemble activities. They learn to listen to others while contributing their own musical ideas.
Move to the Music
Creative movement helps children experience musical concepts with their whole bodies. They’ll explore ideas like high and low, fast and slow, loud and soft, and staccato and legato through movement, props, instruments, and imaginative play.
Sing & Find Their Voice
Through singing, echo games, call-and-response, and vocal exploration, children develop pitch awareness, musical memory, confidence, and expressive skills.
Discover the Keyboard
Children are introduced to the piano keyboard and begin learning keyboard geography—where notes live, how the keyboard is organized, and how musical ideas connect to what they see and play.
Learn the Language of Music
Children begin building a musical vocabulary and exploring foundational concepts such as beat, rhythm, melody, dynamics, tempo, pitch, and musical symbols.
Imagine, Pretend & Create
Stories, pretend play, movement, and music give children opportunities to use their imaginations, make choices, solve problems, and express their own creative ideas.
Musical Confidence
Children begin to see themselves as capable music-makers. They’ll become more comfortable singing, playing instruments, moving to music, and sharing their ideas.
Listening & Attention
Musical games require children to listen carefully, notice changes, remember patterns, and respond to what they hear—skills that support learning well beyond music.
Pitch, Memory & Sequencing
Songs, patterns, movement, and instrument activities strengthen pitch awareness, memory, sequencing, and the ability to recognize and predict patterns.
Independence & Self-Control
Participating without a parent for most of the class gives children an opportunity to practice independence, follow directions, manage their bodies, take turns, and work as part of a group.
Creativity & Problem-Solving
Music encourages children to experiment, make decisions, think flexibly, and discover that there can be many creative ways to solve a problem or express an idea.
School-Ready Skills
Focused attention, listening, communication, memory, sequencing, vocabulary, and self-regulation all support the skills children use as they prepare for kindergarten and beyond.
Level 4 is a wonderful bridge between early childhood music and formal music instruction.
Children leave with a stronger understanding of how music works, greater confidence in their abilities, and a foundation that makes the transition into piano, voice, strings, or other music lessons feel natural and exciting.
And parents get to watch it happen.
For the first 40 minutes, your child gets to experience the independence of being a music student. Then you join us for the final activity, giving you a chance to celebrate what they’ve learned and share the experience together.
It’s the beginning of becoming not just a music lover, but a music-maker.
